Connor Healy Named Evans Scholar |
FOOTBALL CAPTAIN CONNOR HEALY ’10 NAMED EVANS SCHOLAR
Brother Rice’s Football Captain Connor Healy ’10 (Evergreen Park – Most Holy Redeemer) was named a Chick Evans scholar this past weekend. According to the Chick Evans Foundation website, since the first two Scholars enrolled at Northwestern University in 1930, over 8,800 young men and women have graduated from the program. In 2009, 845 Evans Scholars are enrolled at 19 universities across the country.
Upon graduating from Brother Rice in the spring, Healy will attend the University of Illinois and major in Business Administration. Throughout his time at Brother Rice, Connor has played both football and rugby, and is a member of the National Honor Society. In addition to his Brother Rice activities and caddying at Ridge CC, Connor is also a Eucharistic minister at Most Holy Redeemer. “Brother Rice has superbly prepared me for life after high school.” Healy said. “Thanks to my counselor and teachers, I am ready to continue onto the University of Illinois and honored to have received the Evans Scholarship.”

2010 Seniors Sign Letters of Intent |
BROTHER RICE SENIORS SIGN FOOTBALL LETTERS OF INTENT
On Wednesday, February 3, three Brother Rice seniors signed their letters of intent to play college football. Offensive linemen Andy Gallik (Evergreen Park – Central Jr. High) signed with Boston College and Kevin McKenna (Chicago – St. Cajetan) signed with the University of Indianapolis. Shannon Rogers, a linebacker, signed with Lincoln University of Missouri.
“Our football motto is sacrifice, commitment and effort,” Gallik said. “It’s something that we’ve lived by throughout our four years at Brother Rice and will continue to follow through on beyond our time in high school.” Shannon Rogers said that “Brother Rice has prepared me to succeed in the classroom and on the field. I am proud to call myself a Crusader.” |

David Diehl Selected To Pro Bowl |
| Congratulations to David Diehl (Class of 1998) on his selection to the NFL Pro Bowl Game featuring the best of the NFC versus the AFC. David currently holds a team leading 96 consecutive game streak at the premier left tackle spot for the New York Giants. |

Rice-Marist Game Returns in 2011 |
| Brother Rice and Marist High School have agreed on a new two year contract for Week 2 of the 2011 and 2012 season. Marist will host the 2011 season while the Crusaders host in 2012. The Crusaders have filled their 2010 and 2011 schedules on the Varsity, Sophomore and Freshman levels. Check the Crusader Football Website for the complete 2010 Schedule on Friday January 29th. Congratulations to both schools for renewing this classic neighborhood rivalry. |
